A brief explanation of -Maxis' and EricZLink's favorite shows.
First of all, OUR TOP FIVE! (Not particularly in this order)
Urusei Yatsura
-A great story from the creator of Ranma 1/2. I saw this at the recent Comic Convention (Comic-con) in San Diego, (My home town, I'm so happy). I couldn't stop laughing at the one episode I watched, (A episode where there having Christmas and, well you'll have to see it to get it). The second movie of this shows 200 episode reign is so good, both in plot and music that I watch it all the time. The beginning can be a little boring but the end is written so well. I have to put this in my top five. I don't know about zLink, but I think he likes this show too.
Saber Marionette (J Season especially)
-This is a new show that has paved the way for future cartoons with it's high class humor and good stories. Telling the life of an almost man and three of his Quote "Replacements for a lost gender", although the show is so obviously centered on the youngest of his "Marionettes", Lime. This is definatly in my top five favorite shows, and I am glad they are still making this show after three seasons. Funny how Lime is the first cute centered character that I can't find any problem with. Oh well, that's good, isn't it?
Sailor Moon
-Now here's a show that got an injustice from dubbing. This little "gem" is a great show and didn't deserve the treatment a certain translation company dumped on it. Even though the people in America say that it is a show for, and centered for by the translators, young girls, I am not afraid to come out and say that I think it is one of the best shows ever. Now confirmed as the most watched TV cartoon series in the world, this small "prize" has made it to Kenya, Indonesia, and even Chile. I put it as one of my top five. Watch the last season, it's very entertaining to say the least, combining high comedy and drama together and actully having most of the main characters die, Shock.
Ranma 1/2
-A great show but not for kids. This show is like watching Urusei Yatsura but with a different plot. A man and his son go off to China in a train. When they return, the man's son is told that he must marry one of his fathers best friends' daughters. When they arrive, the father of the daughters finds that his friend now turns into a panda. As for the boy, now he turns into a girl. Confused? Well don't be, If you watch the show, they explain it a lot better than me. A top five if I ever saw one. Created by the same person as Urusei Yatsura. Just as many episodes too.
Slayers
-While it's my number five in the top five, My friend who wishes to stay only known as EricZLink likes this show very much. It's a fun show with some high (and low) class humor. Although it is like any Fantasy/Action Anime, in some way I haven't figured out yet, it's different. A good story and great character entanglement, I still like to watch this show. One of my, and definitely zLink's...TOP FIVE!
Enough of that. Here are some other shows we have seen, (and I can think of off the top of my head).
1. Gundam 0083:
-Ok. A pretty good base plot and some ok characters, but it's missing something, episode to episode involvement. After the two episodes that we watched went by, nothing happened except one attack on the flagship and one fight between a drunken fighter pilot and a dumb jock. Oh well, if you have a difference of opinion, send an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll post it in the guest speakers room.
2. Hyper Speed Grandoll:
-Well...what can I say. Is she crazy or stupid? Is she straight or not? Is she a fighter, or is she being controlled by her talking paperweight? If anyone can answer these questions, please do. By the way, "she" is a giddy little High School star. If you ever watch this show, notice how closely they copy Salior Moon. Weird show.
3. Galaxy Fraulein Yuna:
-Pretty good show. Although it was enjoyable and I could laugh at the way the one girl could eat so much, the best part of the show was the openings and closings. There's one closing in particular that is really funny. Watch it if you get a chance.
4. Speed Racer.
-I won't even go there. I don't think the show is good at all and it would be interesting to see the original Japanese version, if they didn't burn it.
5. Tenchi:
-Although I have only seen Tenchi in Tokyo, the five episodes I did see were great. This show had a little bit of everything. I am going to rent the rest of the season when I get a chance. Maybe I'll like them enough to buy the good episodes. Watch.
6. Neon Genesis Evangelion:
-I have not seen this show but I would like to. Can you e-mail me at [email protected] and tell me if it's good or bad. If you don't want to that's fine but you know....
7. Dragon Ball:
-A good show with countless number of movies. I think this is the only English dubbed show I can watch without being disgusted although the spanish translation is still better. Recommended by me and I guess zLink.
Well that's the end. When I see more shows I will put more ratings up. I hope you agree to at least one of these outrageous ratings. I know! I'll make a poll about the top five. Look for it on my main page in a few months.
